Sarah Peterson - Owner/CEO
Northstar Maintenance Management Inc. was founded in 2009. As a woman-owned business, I have served as CEO and leader in the food service supplies and commercial cleaning industries. Through this experience, I became increasingly aware of the excessive waste generated by overflowing trash containers and local landfills, recognizing a growing problem in our daily lives.
A decade later, a natural shift in focus occurred for me. I transitioned the company towards offering compostable food service packaging supplies and prioritizing zero waste initiatives. Our sustainable product line includes BPI-certified, commercially compostable items such as cutlery, bio-plastic drinking straws, cold and hot cups, and even trash can liners. This change aligned perfectly with my passion for addressing waste and landfill issues. In addition to our products, I leverage my educational background to promote and inspire efforts to reduce landfill usage, implement zero-waste venues, and support food scrap programs in communities of all sizes.
We proudly collaborate with leading international janitorial and food service packaging manufacturers, including World Centric, Eco Products, Vegware, Fabri-Kal, UrthPact, phade, and Better Earth. My company has also introduced its own product line Forever Free™, a collection of items free from any added PFAS chemicals, free from use of any petroleum plastics and free from trees in in all paper products. My company proudly supports the Biodegradable Products Institute and is a proud member of the Kiss the Ground movement.
