About Northstar Maintenance Management

I've spent my career as an educator, and that's shaped everything about how I run this company. In 2009, I founded Northstar Maintenance Management Inc., a certified woman-owned business, to serve the food service supply and commercial cleaning industries. Working alongside our customers, I kept seeing the same thing: overflowing trash containers, full dumpsters, and single-use products headed straight to landfills that grow bigger every year. As a teacher, I couldn't look at a problem like that without asking what we could learn from it and what we could do differently.

A decade later, I found the answer. I shifted our company's focus to BPI-certified, commercially compostable food service packaging and zero-waste solutions. Today we supply compostable cutlery, cold and hot cups, bio-plastic straws, trash can liners, and more to businesses, venues, schools, and public agencies. But products are only half the solution. People have to understand why it matters and how to do it right. So I bring my background as an educator to community composting outreach, helping organizations cut their landfill use, run zero-waste venues and events, and build food scrap programs in communities of every size.

We partner with leading manufacturers in the industry, including World Centric, Eco-Products, Vegware, Fabri-Kal, UrthPact, phade, and Better Earth. We also created our own brand, Forever Free™, a line of products made with no added PFAS, no petroleum-based plastics, and no trees in any of our paper products. Northstar proudly supports the Biodegradable Products Institute and is a member of the Kiss the Ground movement.

Every classroom teaches that small choices add up. Our mission is to make the better choice the easy one, keeping more out of the landfill and giving more back to the earth.
